Use of Document Verification Services

AuthNTick Identity Services may use the Commonwealth Government's Document Verification Service ("DVS") to verify your identity, using information available from your identity documents.


Why we use this information and our legal obligations

We process Identification Information to verify your identity to reduce the risk of fraud in our operations and to comply with regulations. In processing such information, we comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Identity Verification Services Act 2003 (Cth) and a special purpose agreement — Document Verification Services Participation Agreement with the Commonwealth, which governs our use of the DVS.

"Identification information" means:

  • personal information contained in your identity documents, such as your name, date of birth, document number, and other details used to confirm your identity; and
  • information about the outcome of a comparison involved in a DVS request in relation to you.

What is stored

In addition to this, in order to meet DISP requirements in accordance with the AS 4811:2022 workforce screening principles, all prospective or current DISP Personnel are required to undergo the following additional checks:

  1. Retrospective media check
  2. Police History check
  3. Employment History Confirmation
  4. Education Based Qualification check

Data retention and storage

It should also be noted that as an ACIC approved Accredited Body our Agreement compels us to retain application information for a 12 month period approved by the ACIC. Only the transaction logs are stored; your documents’ verifiable details are never kept after use.


Your rights

You have the right to request access to, and correction of, your Identification Information that we collect, use and disclose in connection with the DVS. You can also express your concerns or make a complaint about how we collect, use or disclose your Identification Information in connection with the DVS.

What happens if you do not consent

If you do not consent to the use of your Identity Information for verification via the DVS, we will not be able to verify your identity using this method. This may impact our ability to provide you with our products or services.
